Was born and raised in Thessaly, Greece, he used different techniques for sport fishing both for salt water and for fresh water for most of his life.
He began to fish with the artificial fly, even building his artificial, since 2008, since then the artificial fly fishing has become an essential part of his life, photography and sentiment nourished by the wild nature are other favorite aspects of this sport. Tolis is a skilled sailor as well as having interests in participating in the "Smart Flies", and in "Fly Fishing Greece", a fly fishing website in Greece.
He is the founder and general secretary of the "Astraeus", the Hellenic Fly Fishing Association. He has also written several articles for some Greek and foreign fishing magazines.
